Vero has named Laura Spence as Senior Advisor, ASEAN, as the communications consultancy looks to strengthen regional business growth, client experience and leadership development across Southeast Asia.

Spence brings more than 15 years of experience in integrated communications and corporate reputation management, having worked with global brands across the Asia-Pacific region. She is also recognised for campaigns that combine public relations with social impact and stakeholder advocacy, including the Cannes Lions-winning Dove campaign, #LetHerGrow, in Thailand.

In her new role, Spence will work closely with teams across both Vero and Vero Advocacy, collaborating with business units throughout Southeast Asia.

“I’m excited to step into this role and work alongside our incredible teams across Southeast Asia,” Spence said. “Vero’s growth trajectory is nothing short of impressive, and with that momentum comes the opportunity to raise the bar on the impact we create for our clients.”

She added that strong communications work is built on “curiosity, kindness and trust”, highlighting the consultancy’s integrated strengths across communications, strategy, creative, influencer marketing and government relations.

Umaporn Whittaker-Thompson, chief commercial officer, ASEAN, at Vero, described Spence as a trusted adviser with a strong ability to connect innovation, culture and commercial growth.

“Our edge comes from the strength of our people and the quality of the counsel we give clients,” Whittaker-Thompson said, adding that Spence’s coaching and mentorship capabilities would help nurture the next generation of regional leaders.

Meanwhile, Pongsiri Poorintanachote, managing partner at Vero Advocacy, said effective advocacy in Southeast Asia increasingly requires a blend of public affairs, narrative-building and stakeholder trust.

“Laura’s experience in corporate affairs and change campaigns strengthens exactly that,” he said, noting that businesses operating in highly regulated markets require integrated approaches spanning reputation management, government relations and public trust.
