Laura Hill has joined Aware Super as Head of External Affairs, bringing more than two decades of experience spanning corporate affairs, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and public policy across Australia.
Hill joins one of Australia's largest superannuation funds after spending five years in agency leadership roles, most recently serving as Managing Partner – Engagement and Regions at FleishmanHillard Australia, where she advised organisations across corporate reputation, stakeholder management and strategic communications.
Her appointment comes as Aware Super continues to expand its capabilities across member engagement, advocacy and external affairs. The fund manages more than A$250 billion in assets on behalf of around 1.3 million members and has been strengthening its leadership team amid significant growth initiatives across investment, retirement and member services.
Before joining FleishmanHillard, Hill held senior communications and engagement positions across the not-for-profit, banking and financial services, automotive and government sectors. Her career has been defined by leading complex stakeholder engagement programmes and building reputation strategies for organisations navigating periods of transformation.
At FleishmanHillard Australia, Hill was part of the agency's senior leadership team, overseeing engagement and regional communications mandates. The global communications firm works across sectors including consumer brands, technology, healthcare, government and financial services.
Aware Super has been actively investing in leadership and organisational capabilities in recent years as it scales its operations both domestically and internationally. Under Chief Executive Officer Deanne Stewart, the fund has pursued a strategy centred on member outcomes, responsible investing and retirement solutions, alongside expanding its international investment footprint.
Hill's move reflects the growing importance of external affairs functions within Australia's superannuation sector, where regulatory developments, member expectations and stakeholder engagement have become increasingly critical.
