Omnicom Public Relations (OPR) has appointed Amanda Berenstein as President of OPR Mexico, marking a significant leadership transition in one of the group's key Latin American markets. The appointment comes alongside the departure of Karen Ovseyevitz and Sandra Kleinburg, the longtime Porter Novelli leaders who spent more than three decades building the agency's presence across Mexico and Latin America.Berenstein joins OPR from Weber Shandwick, where she most recently served as CEO of Weber Shandwick Mexico while also overseeing Golin and Current Global's operations in the country. She was instrumental in launching Weber Shandwick's Mexico office in 2015 and assumed broader leadership responsibilities across the three agencies in 2021.Her appointment forms part of Omnicom Public Relations' broader regional restructuring following Omnicom's acquisition of Interpublic. The communications group is implementing a new operating model that establishes regional and country leadership teams across select markets outside the US and UK, aimed at delivering greater collaboration across agency brands and more integrated client services."Mexico is a strategically important market for Omnicom Public Relations, and we are confident in our business and the opportunities ahead," said Chris Foster, CEO of Omnicom Public Relations. "Amanda is the right leader for this next chapter. She will deepen client partnerships, strengthen collaboration across our agency brands and further enhance the seamless, integrated experience clients expect."The leadership announcement follows a series of structural changes across the OPR portfolio. Earlier this year, the company placed Porter Novelli under FleishmanHillard's leadership as part of its post-acquisition integration strategy. The move was announced alongside plans to combine Ketchum and Golin, signalling a significant reshaping of Omnicom's global communications businesses. The transition also brings to a close an era for Porter Novelli in Latin America. Ovseyevitz and Kleinburg founded a communications consultancy in Mexico City in 1993 that was subsequently acquired by Porter Novelli. They remained with the organisation, playing a pivotal role in transforming the business into one of Latin America's leading communications networks.Ovseyevitz was named Regional Director for Latin America in 2007 before becoming President of Porter Novelli Latin America in 2013. Under her leadership, the agency expanded its regional footprint and established a reputation for delivering award-winning client work while fostering a strong workplace culture. Together with Kleinburg, she helped position Porter Novelli as one of Omnicom's most successful and consistent PR businesses in the region.Foster credited the outgoing leaders with building an exceptional business and strengthening the agency's standing in the Mexican market."I want to thank Karen and Sandra for their leadership, partnership and many contributions over the years," Foster said. "We wish them both every success in the future."Berenstein's appointment follows OPR's recent announcement of its new regional leadership team, which includes Joanne Wong as CEO of OPR Asia-Pacific, Hugh Taggart as CEO of OPR EMEA, and Greg Power as CEO of OPR Canada.Separately, Weber Shandwick has announced three senior leadership appointments ahead of Karen Pugliese's succession as CEO in September. Joy Farber Kolo has been named Chief Innovation and Integration Officer, Michael Wehman will serve as US President, and Mike Rosich will expand his role as President of Weber Shandwick New York while continuing as CEO of Current Global and dna.(Image: webershandwick)
