Tata Communications Limited has announced the appointment of Ganapathi S. Lakshminarayanan as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for a five-year term beginning May 20, 2026. Another corner office changes hands. Somewhere, a LinkedIn post is already being drafted with the phrase “honoured and humbled.”According to the company’s regulatory filing dated May 20, 2026, the Board of Directors approved the appointment based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.Lakshminarayanan has also been appointed as an Additional Director of the company, subject to shareholder approval. His tenure as Managing Director and CEO will continue until May 19, 2031.The company stated that there are no inter se relationships between Lakshminarayanan and any other director of the company, and that he is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order issued by the Securities and Exchange Board of India or any other authority.Tata Communications said Lakshminarayanan, also known as Ganesh, was appointed as Managing Director and CEO-Designate on January 21, 2026.The company noted that he brings more than 30 years of international management experience across multinational corporations, B2B startups and Indian enterprises. Prior to this appointment, he served as Managing Director and Group Vice President for ServiceNow in India and SAARC, where he was responsible for driving market growth.Before joining ServiceNow, Lakshminarayanan was CEO of Airtel Business in India and earlier led Airtel’s Enterprise Business unit.The filing also stated that Lakshminarayanan has been elected twice to the NASSCOM executive council, served on the FICCI council and is a founding member of Social Venture Partners Bengaluru.
