Netflix appoints Joy Albert as APAC communications lead

Netflix has appointed Joy Albert as vice president of communications for the Asia Pacific region. She will step into the role on 9 March in Singapore and report to chief communications officer Dani Dudeck.Albert joins from Google, where she spent over 12 years and most recently served as director of communications for Asia Pacific. Prior to Google, she held roles at FrieslandCampina and Burson-Marsteller.In a LinkedIn post, Albert said she has been a fan of Netflix since 2004 and described it as a privilege to lead Asia Pacific communications at this time. She highlighted the strength of storytelling from the region and Netflix’s contribution to local economies and the export of Asian culture globally.Dudeck, who reports to co-CEO Ted Sarandos, also announced the appointment of Flávia Vígio as vice president of communications for Latin America. Vígio joins from TelevisaUnivision. Dudeck said both leaders will work with regional teams to support creators, elevate local stories and strengthen global engagement.The appointments come as Netflix has submitted a bid of approximately US$82.7 billion to acquire studio and streaming assets from Warner Bros.. Warner Bros. shareholders are scheduled to vote on the bid on 20 March.Over the past year, Netflix has released several titles including Stranger Things season five, Wednesday season two and Squid Game season three. In 2026, the platform has launched Bridgerton season four, Single’s Inferno season five and Can This Love Be Translated, with upcoming releases including BEEF season two, Virgin River season seven and Avatar: The Last Airbender season two.
